If you donate a piece of property valued at over $500, you will have to fill out IRS Form 8283 for a tax deduction. If the gift is valued at over $5,000 or more (excluding publicly-traded securities), you must fill out the Form 8283 including the appraisal summary and have the charity fill out the appropriate section for them too. - Jacob Bobart, Virtus sua Gloria. Signed “”James Bobart”” and dated 1697, this famous couplet (commonly misquoted “”Count that day lost . . .”” is in an autograph album of David Krieg in the British Museum. The various versions of this sentiment all stem from the statement in Suetonius (A.D. 70-140) that the Emperor Titus was accustomed to exclaim (no doubt to murmurs of admiration and much uplifting of hands and eyes from his courtiers) that he had “”lost a day”” on those days when he had failed to perform some noble act. The sentiment, which is echoed in Pope, Young and other poets, was probably drawn from Suetonius until the 19th century.
